It Had a Name: The Amy Vasquez Interview

Published: 22 August, 2021

To learn that the condition that had plagued her for decades had a name was a relief for Amy Vasquez. For years she heard “calories in, calories out” and was even accused by medical professionals of eating more than she admitted to. Amy ate clean; she was a gymnast and dancer in her youth. She saw similar, big thighs among her family members and thought there wasn’t anything that could be done to manage the symptoms, which had spiked at puberty.

It wasn’t until the 2000’s that a Cushing’s disease diagnosis led to the discovery that she also had lipedema. And eventually, she was prescribed Lympha Press to help manage her lipo-lymphedema. “My lower legs don’t even look like I have it anymore,” she says. “I work from home and can use my Lympha Press any time. It’s so convenient and so easy to use.”

Amy wants others to know her story to advocate for themselves and get a diagnosis early – and begin managing their condition sooner. Her closing words are powerful: “Your life is worth fighting for.”

The Lipedema Channel interviews are brought to you by Lympha Press, makers of the Optimal Plus, which was designed specifically for the treatment of lipedema. Find out more by visiting www.lymphapress.com or e-mailing marketing@lymphapress.com.
